later Wed, allowing a warm front to lift N across the region Wed
night. A cold front moves to the coast Thu, then pushes E and SE
across the waters Thu night and Fri. High pressure builds E
across the area later Fri into Sat, then shifts E Sat night into
Sun ahead of the next approaching cold front. This next cold
front reaches the New England coast later Sun and Sun night.

Offshore Waters Forecast
NWS Ocean Prediction Center Washington DC
1055 PM EDT Tue Sep 8 2026

West central North Atlantic continental shelf and slope waters
beyond 60 nm to 250 nm offshore, including south of Georges Bank
from 1000 fm to 250 nm offshore.

Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be

Locally higher winds and seas can be expected in and near tstms.

ANZ899-100215-
1055 PM EDT Tue Sep 8 2026

.SYNOPSIS FOR MID ATLC WATERS...High pressure remains anchored
across most of the waters tonight, while a stationary front
persists across the far N portions generally along 40N. Further
S, a stationary front persists well S of the area along 28N, but
continues forcing strong easterlies across the far S portions
between 31N and 34N. The stationary front over the N portions
lifts N of the area Wed, while the front S of the waters
gradually weakens Wed and Wed night, allowing the high pressure
to expand over the remainder of the area. The high shifts E Wed
night into Thu, maintaining a ridge across the S and central
portions Fri through Sun night. A cold front approaches the coast
Thu, then moves into the N portions Thu night. The front
continues S to near the Virginia Capes Fri, stalls Fri night into
Sat, then returns N as a warm front Sat night into Sun. Another
cold front approaches from the NW later Sun and Sun night.
